The EAO works towards our goal of environmental excellence through a multi-directional approach, partnering with regional entities who share the goal of pollution prevention but whose approaches and audiences are diverse. Through our partnership with Mecklenburg County's Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) Air Quality division, we help small businesses in their efforts to become more environmentally friendly. We publish a monthly e-newsletter, The Environmental Corner. With Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities (CMU), we reach out directly to the public, assisting in public awareness campaigns and training students to help CMU foster environmentally sound practices in the home. The EAO helps coordinate the Environmental Academy at UNC Charlotte. The Environmental Academy brings together faculty with a wide array of expertise who share the common goal of promoting environmentally friendly practices. The Academy sponsors colloquia and research on environmental issues and serves as a resource of expertise for the region. |
